Looking to build on the success of last year’s event, the second annual Natural Health and Wellness Fair will host a free outdoor event Saturday in downtown Mount Clemens.
A group of natural health practitioners and vendors will be on hand for the fair, which runs from noon-8 p.m. on the Urban Naturopath campus at 99 S. Main Street as well as in Grace Episcopal church next door.
Members of the Eastside Natural Health Collective will be at the event, which offers the services of naturopaths, spa owners, massage therapists, energy workers, sound therapists, and a variety of natural product vendors.
“Attendees will be able to speak directly with practitioners, learn about modalities, get samples and giveaways, and see a collection of natural health practitioners and vendors that are some of the best in our county,” said .Jennifer Gale, a Mount Clemens resident and classical naturopath doctor, who organized the event.
New this year is a Djembe Drum Summit featuring Hamisi Lee, a student and educator from the international organization Tam Tam Mandingue!. Djembe, a West African instrument, drumming and sound therapy of this type and training is rare in Macomb County, organizers said.
People are welcome to come and play a drum or just come and listen.
Gale, who is also a member of the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority, said naturopaths are people trained in forms of healing that work with the body’s inherent energy and capacity to restore its natural energy. The naturopathic approach to health requires looking for the root cause of a health issue rather than simply masking symptoms.
The fair will also feature an outdoor food court area on Main Street offering healthy food from 3D’s Pizza and more out of Roseville.
